According to the legend, it was Abd al-Rahmán I who introduced the Date Palm into the Iberian peninsula, when after eating a date he threw the date pit in a place in Córdoba that reminded him a lot of his grandfather’s town in Siria. Nowadays, we know that the Date Palm has been in these lands since long before the Emir’s arrival, but we wanted to pay tribute to the tree that has sparked the greatest legend in Córdoba’s history and to which all Mediterranean civilizations have dedicated the most poems to.
