Our streets are full of these trees and fruits, is an important part of our landscape and we are so used to see them, that sometimes we don´t think about them or when was the beginning of its presence in this part of the world. Orange colour, orange blossom smell and the shadows it casts feel like home for many people and invites us to connect with other civilizations. It was the commercial relationships through the Mediterranean Sea, in 9th century, when the citrus started arriving here.

This is the Word carrying the hopes and wishes of people

As you must know, more than 4 thousand of Spanish words come from Arabic language. Our way of speaking and language make us unique and part of a specific place and time, so what about if we think in those words which link us with people from other side of the world? The answer is that these words fade only keeping the meaning, alone, clear and isolated, as a meaningful and magical symbol. That´s what happens with “ojalá”, it´s just a word but it´s carrying the hopes and the wishes of people. If you say “in sha´Allah” and “ojalá”, at one point both are the same, hope.

A heart is a vessel where the Life is poured

One of the very few symbols from the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, which no represents its meaning by its own shape, is the heart. It used to be represented by a vase, a cup or an amphora, because the heart is a vessel which keep the Life. It´s a container where the most sacred thing is poured, the Life. Our heart is green because this is which represents us the best: green is the colour of the countryside, of the East and the colour of a unique flag in the Iberian Peninsula. We added seven daggers because the Skies of the World are seven and because that´s the number of the protection of the Universe.

Nakhla means Palm Tree

Nakhla means Palm Tree, it is the most cited tree in all the sacred texts of the World. It is support in moments of greatest vulnerability, the best friend in the desert, the one that offers shade, warns of the proximity of water and provides nourishment.

According to the legend, it was Abd al-Rahmán I who introduced the Date Palm into the Iberian peninsula, when after eating a date he threw the date pit in a place in Córdoba that reminded him a lot of his grandfather’s town in Siria. Nowadays, we know that the Date Palm has been in these lands since long before the Emir’s arrival, but we wanted to pay tribute to the tree that has sparked the greatest legend in Córdoba’s history and to which all Mediterranean civilizations have dedicated the most poems to.
